Between May 22–29, 2025, youth workers from six European countries gathered in Kirikuküla, Estonia, for the Erasmus+ training course “The Root – Empowering Self-Image.” Organized by Seiklejate Vennaskond, the program aimed to equip youth workers with the tools and knowledge to explore self-image, belief systems, and mental wellbeing—crucial themes in their work with young people.
Participants engaged in reflective sessions and interactive workshops that blended theory and practice, creating a safe space for personal growth. The idyllic location, surrounded by Estonian forests and the quiet charm of the Marja Talu retreat center, served as the perfect setting for deep self-awareness, learning, and connection.
Among the 2 Romanian participants who experienced this amazing journey, Alex shared his enthusiastic reflections:
“Our experience in Kirikuküla, Estonia was simply amazing. We didn’t have very high expectations at first, but we were pleasantly surprised the moment we arrived. The accommodation was fantastic, the food was absolutely delicious, and the overall conditions were excellent. We were truly grateful for everything.
The people we met there were incredible as well. We connected with people of all ages, and throughout the days, we laughed, played, learned, and eventually became close friends. We stayed together until the very last day. As a group, we traveled to Tallinn and enjoyed our time there like one big group of longtime friends.
Our two trainers, Kristiine and Ethel, were exceptional. Not only were they smart and full of knowledge, but they were also kind, fun, and approachable. We became friends with them too, and we truly appreciated how they shared their expertise with us and created one of the best training courses we’ve ever attended.
The topic of the project—self-image—was something we found genuinely interesting. We learned so many valuable things that we took home with us and will carry forward in our lives, like how to handle emotions, ways to discover yourself and know yourself better, the importance of a clear mind and self-love, and many others.
Overall, it was an unforgettable experience that we would recommend to anyone. We are especially thankful to Asociația Agricultorilor din Zona Cristuru Secuiesc, who made our participation possible and supported us throughout the project. Thank you!”
This project was funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union and made possible by a collaborative effort of six partner organizations from Estonia, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Hungary, and Romania.
